Abstract : A two-wavelength radiometer system has been developed for measurement of the total heat flow through the sea surface from a low flying aircraft. The heat transfer in the top millimeter of the ocean was investigated theoretically and in the laboratory. This work provided a sound basis for the two-wavelength radiometric method of measuring total heat flow from the sea surface.
