Abstract : It has been confirmed that the sharp increases of dielectric losses in PTFE DURING IRRADIATION IN AIR OR IN A VACUUM WITHOUT PRELIMINARY DEGASSING OF THE SPECIMENS IS CAUSED BY THE FORMATION OF PEROXIDE RADICALS. It has been shown that during irradiation in air with a dose power of 250 rad/s the growth of the tangent of dielectric losses in PTFE is not limited by the rate of oxygen diffusion, where as with a given dose power of rad/s such a limitation takes place. There is shown the contribution of each of the two types of peroxide radicals (terminal and intrachain) TO INCREASING THE DIELECTRIC LOSSES IN PTFE. (Author-PL)
