Abstract : A linear shell theory, in general laminate form, describing the buckling behavior of thin-walled laminated anisotropic circular cylinders under combined loading is derived from elasticity theory. The theory incorporates the well-known Donnell's approximations. The theory is then applied to cylinders fabricated of plys with fibers oriented at angles of zero degrees and 90 degrees with respect to the cylinder axis. The loading scheme considered is that of combined internal (or external) pressure and axial tension (or compression). Fourier series solutions are assumed and the boundary condition of clamped ends is incorporated using principles of Fourier analysis. (Author)
