Abstract : Where the mean transmission times between stations are known, synchronization of the OMEGA system can be obtained by having each station adjust its timing rate independently from time to time, in accordance with the deviation from the mean system phase as observed at that station. Even though the timing rate of each station is adjusted only at intervals and without regard to adjustments made at other stations, except as they affect the mean phase of all signals, the system transient response is stable when the control ratio is kept below a maximum value such that the correction is no more than twice the negative of the error.
