Abstract : Thermomechanical processing of the beta titanium alloy TS-6 (Ti: 10Cr, 7V, 3.5Mo, 3 Al) has been investigated. Mechanical properties, hardness and aging kinetics increase with increasing cold-reduction of metastable beta. Strengths in excess of 270,000 psi with 12 to 15% reduction in area have been achieved. Hardnesses of R(c)55 have been obtained with long-time aging. Transmission electron microscopy and selected-area diffraction were used to characterize the structure associated with these properties.
