Abstract : Using the principle of chemiluminescence the authors constructed an apparatus which makes it possible to measure and record photoemission during the process of oxidation of oils, and to determine their stability. The above apparatus and the chemiluminescent method of study make it possible to characterize the intensity of oxidation of basic oils and of oils with additives, and also to study the antiopedative action of additives. Preference for the chemiluminescent method over other laboratory methods of studying the stability of oils is justified by the speed with which tests can be conducted, the generation of reliable sata, and the small quantitites material used.
