Abstract : It is known that the stability of the frequency of gas lasers depends on the stability of the resonator. The principle reasons for the instability of the frequency of a resonator are the thermal expansion of the construction, and a change in the refractive index of the gas discharge medium. The report is devoted to the elucidation of the mechanism of the dependence of the refractive index of a gas-discharge medium in a CO2 laser on the discharge current.
