Abstract : An investigation was made of the relationship between moisture absorption by epoxies and subsequent changes in their glass transition temperatures. During exposure of two epoxies to a high humidity environment, weight gains due to water absorption were observed. Most of the absorbed water could be driven off by vacuum drying. Dilatometric measurements of the glass transition temperatures of the resins, as a function of humidity exposure and drying times, indicated a close relationship between the glass transition temperature and the amount of water absorbed.
