Abstract : Temperature, wind and wave data observed over Lake Michigan were analyzed to yield results on properties of sensible heat transfer in the near-surface layer. Significant features in the overwater data are associated with positive temperature fluctuations which appear as ramps (micro-thermals) in continuous traces. Objective methods based on the distinctive shape of the ramps were used to identify the occurrences of the micro-thermals. (Author)
