Abstract : Estimates are made of the electron-induced radiation from N, N(+) and O(+) in the visible spectral region. The rate of electron cooling by excitation of both the (higher-lying) optical states and the (lower-lying) UV states is also estimated. The results are applicable to regions that are optically thin so that resonance trapping effects are not significant.
