Abstract : The influence of forging deformation degree upon mechanical properties of forged parts depends upon forging conditions, namely upon the ratio between elongation and spreading during forging. Because of this, the one and same forged steel, at identical forging deformation degrees but at different values for elongation and spreading intensity, presents also different mechanical properties. In order to avoid this drawback and to estimate properly the influence of forging deformation degree upon mechanical properties, the concepts of apparent forging deformation degree and of equivalent deformation degree are introduced and a new relationship for equivalent forging deformation degree estimation is discussed.
