Abstract : The article deals with the rheologic proerties of oil water emulsions used as lubricants during drilling. Rheologic flow curves are obtained as a result of experiments on a rotation type elastoviscosimeter, for emulsions with a 2 or 10 percent concentration of oil in the temperature range from 20 to 80 degrees. The result is obtained that the emulsions under consideration behave like non-Newton pseudoplastic liquids in the shear velocity range up to 800 to 1200 sec-anion. At higher shear velocities they manifest Newton properties (the viscosity is constant).
