Abstract : A Lagrangian theory of internal wave interaction is developed. The motion considered is that of a uniformly rotating ocean perturbed about a stationary equilibrium state. The Lagrangian (with incompressibility as a constraint) is expanded in powers of the displacement, and the equation of motion for the wave amplitudes obtained. An order of magnitude estimate is then made for the wave-wave coupling coefficient and energy transfer rate. (Author)
