Abstract : The objective was to study laser transitions in a pulsed Nd:YAG laser, end-pumped with the focused output of a high power, pulsed xenon-ion laser. The major efforts described include optimization of pump power, selection of dispersive elements for wavelength selection, prevention of laser damage to optical elements, identification and verification of new Nd:YAG laser wavelengths, measurement of 0.946 micrometer laser threshold as a function of temperature, and preliminary calculations of stimulated emission crosssections. Room temperature oscillations at 1.064, 0.946, 0.939, 0.900, 0.891, and 0.885 micrometer were obtained, the latter four being new Nd:YAG laser wavelengths. (Author)
