Abstract : An acid polysaccharide rich material was isolated from heavily fouled test panel scrapings recovered from test panels that had been submerged in the sea at various sites for 1-6 months. The complexity of the material as shown by chromatography of hydrolysates and other analyses suggested the presence of a variety of polysaccharides. It seemed unlikely that the polymers were in the main, bacterial products. (Author)
