Abstract : The fall in AChE activity of muscle after chronic denervation is well documented (GUTH, 1968), but results have been obtained from a variety of muscles and by many techniques, mainly histochemical. This communication describes results obtained on a particulate fraction from diaphragm homogenates by employing a sensitive radiometric assay for AChe. Such studies are of importance in relation to both the pharmacology of the neuromuscular synapse (FREEMAN and TURNER, 1969) and the increased sensitivity to ACh observed in denervated muscle (AXELSSON and THESLEFF, 1959). The AChE of diaphragm was compared with that from rat brain (CRONE, 1971).
