Abstract : The author proves that the validity of the generalized theory of small elasticoplastic deformations provides the general condition the partial if Xi with respect to lambda = 0 where Xi is a socalled tensor of similitude and lambda is a value independent of x, y, z, but characterizing the sequence of the different stressed states of the body. From this two statements arise: (1) The theory of the small elasticoplatic deformations is a particular case of the St. VenantLevyMises theory of flow; and (2) For the condition the partial if Xi with respect to lambda = 0 the HenckyMises theory of small deformations follows from the theory of flow. Moreover, the abovementioned condition leads to new expressions for the laws of the theory of small plastic deformations, since every intermediate stressed state after unloading may be taken as an initial state.
