Abstract : Field emission initiated high vacuum breakdown between technically pure electrodes was studied theoretically and experimentally. Expressions describing temperature distribution within the plate anode during pulsed of steady bombardment by a homogeneous electron beam are presented. Measurements were carried out with W, Mo, Cu and Al electrodes. (Author)
