Abstract : A study was made of the influence of various quantities of silicon on the shrinkage, structure, thermal and electric conductivity, and also the density of carbonic material such as coke. The introduction of silicon into the charge leads to an increase in the plasticity of graphite during thermomechanical treatment. The plasticizing effect of silicon becomes more pronounced with an increase in its quantity and rise in pressure. It has been established that the catalytic influence of silicon on the graphitization of carbon appears only during the thermomechanical treatment. (Author)
