Abstract : Graphite monofluoride (CF), a compound formed by the direct fluorination of graphite, is presently commercially produced in batch reactors. A brief outline of the advantages and disadvantages of a fluidized-bed reactor is presented. Improved heat and mass transfer are the primary improvements. The economic advantage of a large scale fluidized-bed production of CF is presented. The per gram or per cell cost appears low enough to make the process favorable financially. (Author)
