Abstract : An investigation was conducted on grain coarsening of a Ti-5Al-2.5Sn titanium alloy heated at 1144K (1600F) for one hour after plastic tensile deformation. Cylindrical tensile test specimens were pulled up to 13% elongation to determine the linear plastic deformation and work energy input necessary to cause maximum grain coarsening after heat treatment. The influence of strain, deformation temperature, strain rate, and grain size on grain coarsening was studied. (Author)
