Abstract : Based on the theory of the ideal associated mixture, a linear relation is derived between the chemical shift of protons capable of hydrogen bond formation and the ratio of the activity coefficients of the self-associating and the inert components of the mixture. Applicability and limits of the model are demonstrated using a series of alcohols in tetrachloromethane as examples. (Author)
