Abstract : The hydrolysis of CH2Cl2 was studied by a flow method with N2 as carrier gas. The only reaction products were HCl, HCHO, and paraformaldehyde. The catalysts were obtained by calcination of NiSO4 with xH2O at 320-600C; the activity of H3PO4, SiO2, Al2O3, NiO, ZnS, SiO2, and diatomite catalysts was also studied. The activity in CH2Cl2 hydrolysis was compared to the activity in the alpha pinene and N butene isomerization. The nature of the catalytic centers implied in each case is discussed. (Author)
