Abstract : The problem of deriving surveillance information from the MLS has been analyzed in terms of the available air-to-ground communication links. The results of this study indicate that the use of this approach is feasible and it is recommended that the configuration based on the DABS data link be included in the upgraded third-generation design to meet the high-density terminal-area surveillance requirements.
