Abstract : The objectives of this program are to analyze, evaluate, and report the results of a test program performed on S-glass composites. For the laminates tested, the materials were 1002S, XP251S, and BP907/143S FIBERGLASS COMPOSITES LAMINATED IN VARIOUS COMBINATIONS OF 0 AND PLUS OR MINUS 45 DEGREE LAYERS, AND NOTCHED WITH A SIMULATED FATIGUE STARTER CRACK. Sandwich beams were also tested, and four of the beams were impacted ballistically. Damage tolerance and fracture mechanics are investigated by examining static and fatigue strength, crack propagation, notch sensitivity, failure modes, and the effect of interlaminar discontinuities.
