Abstract : (*RADIO PROXIMITY FUZES, SENSITIVITY), (*RADAR REFLECTIONS, RADIO PROXIMITY FUZES), ANTENNA RADIATION PATTERNS, ELECTRIC FIELDS, ELECTROMAGNETIC WAVE REFLECTIONS, RADAR TARGETS, OSCILLATION, DAMPINGThe report gives the results of an analytical investigation of the effect of target size and range on the magnitude of the rf electric field intensity reflected by a finite, square, conducting, plane target illuminated by a small antenna. The magnitude of the field intensity was calculated only for points on the perpendicular line drawn from the plane through the center of the antenna. This study should be especially useful in interpreting the results of pole tests of radio proximity fuzes made with finite ground screens and relating these findings to the results that would have been obtained with an infinite ground screen.
