Abstract : Pralidoxime, a water-soluble monoquaternary oxime, penetrates red cells in relatively high concentrations, both in vitro and in vivo. Structurally related bisquaternary oximes, toxogonin and TMB-4, do not enter to an appreciable extent. Penetration is due to the molecular volume and charge of the oxime, rather than to lipid solubility. (Author)
