Abstract : The dynamic behavior of structural fires in the context of civil defense implications following nuclear attack is experimentally evaluated. During the third year of the program, some gross variations in the structures were made. Measurements from all three years of experiments are used to evaluate the nature and magnitude of behavioral changes that result from variations in both structural and environmental factors. A simple empirical equation which fits reasonably well the pulse of radiant energy and the burning rate of a burning building is used to generalize the dynamic characteristics of structural fires.
