Abstract : The dynamics of barium clouds, as formulated by Longmire, is analysed for stability. Equations are derived for the behavior of perturbations both in the linear and non-linear regimes. The main result for the linear regime is that for the fastest growing unstable mode, k bisects the angle between the density gradient and the neutral wind. The main results of the non-linear analysis are discussed.
