Abstract : A semiempirical theory on the bending and development of a round turbulent jet in a subsonic crosswind is presented. A theoretical model of dynamical interaction between the jet and external flow has been formulated by combining an entrainment model and a vortex sheet model, taking into account the inward flow of air outside into the jet induced by a pair of concentrated vortices on the rear side of the jet. The mass inflow rate is related to the moment of the vortex-doublet. (Author)
