Abstract : Cold extruding requires presses with a high compressive force. The reshaping force can be considerably reduced when the upper die which is used for extruding parts touches only small contact surfaces in comparison to the total extruding surface. By means of rotating or pendulum movements of the upper die, workpieces can be reshaped in spite of the smaller contact surface over its entire cross sedtion in connection with which considerably lower reshaping forces are required than previously. An extruding machine with tumbling dies is described which enables parts having complicated shapes having a high degree of mass and precision surfaces to be cold shaped.
