Abstract : The reaction of NO with F atoms produced by microwave discharge was studied in a fast-flow system in the temperature range 195-288K. Both F atom and NO were measured by ESR spectrometry. Relative F atom concentrations at different reaction times were derived from the F atom ESR signal strength with and without NO present. Decay of F atom relative concentrations was found to be pseudo first order. The Arrhenius A factors and activation energies for the termolecular reaction F + NO + M, where M = He or NO, are given. The F2 + NO low pressure flame was also studied, absolute F atom concentrations being measured by the O2 standard method. (Author)
