Abstract : The report deals with the evaluation of the performance of a strapped down air-to-air tracker for the Short Range Weapons Control System. The system was designed, built, and evaluated at the Naval Weapons Center. The subsystems of the tracker which contributed to the problem areas discovered by flight tests are described. An evaluation of the shortcomings of the tracking scan mode and the automatic gain control circuit is discussed and circuit modifications are proposed which include a collapsing square scan for target tracking and a variable width window discriminator.
