Abstract : The effect of reducing the ratio of CO2 to N2 was primarily studied. A program of measurement of gain in expanding CO2 laser mixtures at high pressure was carried out. Improved energy storage capability was successfully demonstrated through small signal gain measurements taken in a shock tube. This experimental approach allows the measurement of gain with various mixture ratios over a wide range of pressure conditions.
