Abstract : A method is reviewed whereby a set of data can be Fourier analyzed, even if the data points are unequally spaced in time (e.g., because of gaps in the coverage or randomly omitted data points). The method interprets Fourier analysis as a least-squares curve-fitting procedure, and thereby enables Fourier amplitudes, phases, and spectra to be computed under adverse circumstances. (Author)
