Abstract : The mathematical analysis methods used in the Spectrum Analysis and Display Computer Program are based on wellknown Fourier series and Fourier integral formulations. In the report these basic analytic tools and their relation to the quantities computer by the program are described. The program displays a pictorial representation of the power spectrum of an analyzed signal, as well as estimates of: (1) the frequency within a designated frequency band at which there is a maximum in the spectral density, (2) the 6dB bandwidth about the maximum value, (3) the mean frequency within the 6dB bandwidth, (4) the total power within the 6dB bandwidth, and (5) the equivalent signal power of a pure sinewave at the frequency corresponding to the peak in the power spectrum. The report contains a detailed description of how the program is used, and of the outputs it produces, including examples of actual program output, and a source language (FORTRAN) listing. (Author)
