Abstract : A mathematical model was used to analyze the thermodynamic efficiency of combined power plants incorporating MHD generators. The mathematical model devised by the authors consists of three parts. The first part is designed to describe processes determining the physical parameters of the working media used. The second part describes processes associated with the conversion and transfer of energy in different elements of the installation, including the MHD generator. The third part is a complex model of an actual power plant (including oxygen enrichment of the oxidant.) When the mathematical model was being designed, actual technical restrictions were taken into account, i.e., the extent to which the parameters could be varied, and some of the technological characteristics of the installation.
