Abstract : The results of probe investigations of a pulse discharge with a hollow cathode in hydrogen at a pressure of 0.05 to 0.5 mm Hg and current densities up to 80 A per square cm were cited. The anomalous course of the volt ampere characteristic of a flat probe, situated within the cavity of a cold cathode near its surface, was revealed; this is explained by the presence of dense fluxes of fast gamma electrons.
