Abstract : Using standard Pt alloys with 7, 10, and 15% Rh, the authors investigated the contribution, during creeping, of intergranular deformation to total specimen elongation at temperatures of 1350, 1400, and 1500 degrees and stresses of 0.2, 0.5, and 1.3 kg/sq mm. In all cases, intergranular deformation was found to be significantly less pronounced than overall specimen elongation, with its contribution to total elongation decreasing inversely to creep time. During the steady-state creep stage the relative grain displacement vector is directly proportional to both overall and intragranular deformation. (Author)
