Abstract : The value of the average energy required per hole-electron pair in silicon has appreciable importance, both as an experimental result and in view of applications. The spread in the published results remains greater however than the possible precision of the electronic pulse spectographic method. This work relates results obtained with a diffused junction detector, having a net surface of 5 sq mm, 2 micrometers diffusion depth and made from 10 to 20 R ohm cm p-type Si. (Author)
