Abstract : A baroclinic model is proposed for computing the stream function. It is based on the spectral method for solving nonlinear eddy equations and the first principle of thermodynamics, written in an adiabatic approximation. The solution is sought for a hemisphere. The stream function is assumed to be antisymmetric relative to the equator. The problem is reduced to solution of systems of ordinary differential equations for the expansion coefficients. The solution is obtained in time steps using the Adams method. (Author)
