Abstract : Propagation loss was measured at three frequencies (30, 140, and 412 MHz) over various sea-water paths out to 40 nautical miles between a moderately elevated shore-based receiving site and a floating transmitter platform essentially at the water's surface and subject to wave motion. The measured losses agreed well with theory, assuming a 'standard atmosphere' for the test conditions. Certain anomalies and ocean-wave effects were noted. In general, meteorological conditions were relatively constant and 'normal' for eastern Florida in summer.
