Abstract : Two candidate repellents were evaluated on New Zealand white rabbits for their potential to cause skin and eye irritation. The data obtained serve as a basis for making the following recommendations which are intended only for guidance in further entomological testing of the compounds. The repellents, 1-(butylsulfonyl)-2-methylpiperidine and 1-(propylsulfonyl)-2-methylpiperidine (ENT-35528-Ga and ENT-35529-Ga respectively) are not expected to irritate human eyes if the compounds should accidentally get into the eyes, provided they are washed out as soon as possible. There are no restrictions for acute application to human skin. (Author)
