Abstract : The equations that govern the three dimensional motion of solid particles suspended by a compressible gas flow through a rotating cascade of a turbomachine are formulated. These equations are solved for the case of flow through a turbine stage. The solution takes into account the loss in particle momentum due to their collision with the turbine blades or casing. The results indicate the locations on the turbine blades subjected to severe erosion damage.
