Abstract : Operation of solar energy installations under open atmospheric conditions and in various climatic belts presents extremely rigid requirements for durability of materials used. It is known that many promising structural materials, especially synthetic films, possessing good optical, weight and economical characteristics, do not find wide application, expressly because of inadequate servide lifetime. The mechanical strength and chemical durability of selective, transparent insulation materials, mainly of tin oxide and indium oxide filmson glass, as well as certain of their supplementary operating characteristics, were studied in this Russian report.
