Abstract : There is a need for statistical techniques which would take care of two kinds of deviations from classical assumptions: The family of probability distributions may be assumed as known, e.g. normal, but the sample is censored, sometimes quite severely so that out of its entirety only very few numerical values are available; or, A censored sample is available and little is known about the type of the underlying probability distribution. It is the aim of this paper to discuss a class of statistics which, to some extent, make it possible to deal with these difficulties.
