Abstract : The Gibbs equations is used under the assumption that for small volume elements in local equilibrium, the local entropy is a function of the specific energy, the specific volume, the magnetic field strength, and the mass concentration, just as in total equilibrium. The authors consider the case when the system is a physical mixture of components with different magnetic susceptibilities, and is situated in an inhomogenous magnetic field.
