Abstract : A laboratory study was conducted to investigate several methods of measurement applicable to determining the thermal expansion and contraction of bituminous concrete. The primary objective was to select the test methods which would measure most adequately thermal expansion and contraction. Both linear as well as volumetric techniques were investigated over the temperature range of - 30 to 40C. Three volumetric and three linear techniques were investigated in the course of this investigation.
