Abstract : The theory of chronoabsorptiometry after a potential-step perturbation has been extended to include CE (reversible chemical reaction preceding charge transfer), EC (reversible or irreversible chemical reaction following charge transfer), reversible catalytic, and disproportionation reactions. The standard Laplace transform technique was used whenever possible to obtain analytical solutions. For the cases in which no analytical solution is available, the digital simulation method was used instead to construct working curves. Semi-quantitative diagnostic criteria based on the characteristics of each absorbing species were developed to permit the assignment of mechanisms for unknown systems with reasonable certainity.
