Abstract : The work covers the whole field of statistical mechanics including both equilibrium and nonequilibrium phenomena. The aim of statistical mechanics is to relate the properties of materials to the properties of the atoms and molecules out of which these materials are made up. The end product of the work is a better understanding and thus better control of the thermal, magnetic, electrical and mechanical properties of macroscopic matter. (Author Modified Abstract)
